Ruben Amorim has reportedly already told Manchester United which players he wishes to sign as the club look to agree a deal to bring him in as Erik ten Hag's replacement.
Ten Hag was sacked by United on Monday after a defeat to West Ham left the Red Devils 14th in the Premier League after nine games. Ruud van Nistelrooy is filling in as interim boss but Sporting CP boss Amorim was immediately named as the frontrunner to take the job on a permanent basis and entered talks.
United are not wasting any time and are hurriedly trying to get a deal done for the 39-year-old, who was previously courted by both Liverpool and West Ham.

United are able to get him for just €10 million (£8.3 million) in compensation - €20 million cheaper than his release clause as part of a loophole in his contract extension signed in June 2026.
Amorim will likely bring him in his people from a coaching perspective in order to help get his principles across, but TEAMtalk say he would also like to bring a trio of Sporting players with him.
Although United brought in two new players in the position in the summer, Amorim sees 23-year-old centre-back Goncalo Inacio as a priority addition and the Liverpool target has a £51 million release clause in his deal.

Winger Marcus Edwards, who came through the ranks at Spurs before moving to Portugal, is also seen as a player who could make an impact at United - who have struggled with creativity from wide areas.
And finally, Amorim has a great relationship with another winger in Pedro Goncalves, who once had a very brief spell with Wolves. He has consistently hit strong numbers in front of goals in recent seasons and has five goals and as many assists this season.
Sporting would demand a huge fee for the 26-year-old and would not be keen on letting him leave mid-season.

The Portuguese giants have confirmed United's interest in Amorim in a statement but fresh reports say he is expected to be in charge for Sporting's next game and could even remain at the helm until November as his notice period is due for a period of weeks rather than days, as per the Daily Mail.
Amorim has won two Portuguese league titles as well as three Taca da Ligas in his managerial career and has drawn comparisons to Jose Mourinho.
