Key figures within Manchester United reportedly refused to let the club part ways with one player who they believe deserves a second chance.
Since Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS acquired a minority stake in United and took over footballing operations at the club, there has been a lot of change at Old Trafford.
As part of these changes, several key members of the squad departed the club over the summer, with players like Jadon Sancho, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Scott McTominay all moving on.

However, there is one player that senior figures at the club refused to let go this summer.
According to a report from Manchester Evening News, staff at United decided to keep Mason Mount at the club this season as they felt that he deserved another chance to show why he was signed last year.
Mount joined United from Premier League rivals Chelsea after spending six years at Stamford Bridge.

He won the Champions League with the London club and made 279 appearances, scoring 58 goals and contributing 53 assists.
And, after demanding a fee of £60million including add-ons, expectations were high for Mount at the Red Devils.
However, a calf injury ruled the 25-year-old out for the majority of the 2023/24 season, leaving anticipation for his return this season high.
But, despite reportedly feeling sharp during preseason and featuring in the Community Shield match against Manchester City and Premier League matches against Brighton and Fulham, Mount is now dealing with a new muscle injury.

Revealing his injury on social media, Mount said: "During the last game I picked up a minor muscle injury. I've had it checked and it looks like I'll be out for a few games. Leading up to and during pre-season, I worked hard to get my fitness back to where it needs to be and I felt re-energised, sharp and ready.
"I wanted you to hear it directly from me how frustrated I am, as I expect you are too. I will do everything possible to be back in the best shape and help the team."
Thankfully for Mount, his latest injury appears to only be minor and he is expected to return in early October.
