Man Utd make final decision on Mason Greenwood's future following end-of-season review

Man Utd make final decision on Mason Greenwood's future following end-of-season review

A decision has reportedly been made on Mason Greenwood's Manchester United future.

Manchester United have made a final decision on Mason Greenwood following an end-of-season review, according to a report.

Greenwood was sent out on loan to Getafe last season after Man United's internal investigation into his conduct.

He was arrested in January 2022 following allegations surrounding material which was published on social media.

Charges against the 22-year-old, including attempted rape and assault, were dropped on February 2 of last year.

At Getafe, Greenwood made 36 appearances across all competitions, scoring 10 goals.

His Man United career is still up in the air, but a report claims his future lies away from Old Trafford.

The future of the Englishman was a key focus of the review, which saw Erik ten Hag stay on as manager.

According to HITC, the club have decided Greenwood will NOT be reintegrated into the first-team squad.

He is set to be placed on the transfer market, with a valuation of £50 million slapped on his head.

The club have also communicated to interested parties their preference for a permanent deal, with a Champions League side in talks over a transfer.

But Man United have not ruled out a loan move and have placed themselves in a position that will strengthen their bargaining position this summer.

The club are set to trigger a one-year option on his contract, tying him down until 2026.

The extension ensures Man United retain leverage in any future discussions regarding his sale.

Greenwood will unlikely add to his Man United tally, having played 129 senior games for the club, scoring 35 goals in all competitions.

He made his Red Devils debut in a Champions League outing against Paris Saint-Germain back in March 2019 under the management of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Greenwood then made his Premier League debut against Arsenal four days later.
