Manchester United are said to be 'interested' in a player who has an 'excellent' relationship with newly-appointed manager Ruben Amorim, according to reports in Spain.
Amorim, who will take charge of his first United game on Sunday against Ipswich Town, will operate on a more modest budget compared to Erik ten Hag, who spent more than £600 million during his two-and-a-half year tenure.
In fact, United are 'unlikely to be particularly active' in the January transfer window unless an opportunity presents itself, according to the Telegraph, who claim Amorim has been tasked with 'maximising the untapped potential in the squad'.

With that being said, a report from Spanish publication AS has named United, Manchester City and Real Madrid as those competing to sign Spurs right-back Pedro Porro.
Porro played under Ruben Amorim at Sporting Lisbon, where he notched 12 goals and 20 assists in 98 appearances for the Portuguese club.
It is claimed that 'those close' to the defender are 'convinced' that the arrival of Amorim will imply an attempt to sign him.

The report goes on to mention his 'excellent' relationship with the Portuguese coach, who transformed the landscape at Sporting after taking over in 2020, winning two league titles.
Speaking to Expresso earlier this year, Porro was full of praise for Amorim.
“He is young, has a lot of ambition, a little bit like Ange Postecoglou here at Tottenham," the Spanish full-back said. "He always wants more and that’s what puts him on the world’s lips and coveted by so many teams in Europe,"
Porro added: “He has a special way of working. He plays eye to eye against any opponent, which is also similar to what we do at Tottenham, there are several similarities. It is known and recognised how Sporting and Tottenham play. There is a clear identity, whether winning 5-0 or losing 5-0.”

Porro has gone from strength to strength in recent years. After impressing on loan at Spurs, the North London club snapped him up for around £40 million in January 2023.
