Manchester United are believed to have placed five players on the transfer list ahead of the January window.
The Red Devils are looking for reinforcements after suffering a seventh league defeat of the season against Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Dominic Solanke, Philip Billing and Marco Senesi were on target to inflict more misery on United, who will now travel to Anfield without captain Bruno Fernandes for the game against Liverpool.
But with the ownership situation still not finalised and Financial Fair Play regulations to consider, United are open to letting five players to leave.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the club are willing to let Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane, Casemiro, Anthony Martial and Donny van de Beek depart if suitable offers come in.
Sancho has been surplus to requirements since he called out Erik ten Hag following comments made about his training performance after the 3-1 loss to Arsenal.
The England international's refusal to apologises means he has remained banished to training with the reserves.

A return to Borussia Dortmund for the £73 million signing has been mooted.
It's been claimed that Varane has also fell out with Ten Hag, who has given him just 12 minutes in the Premier League ever since he overlooked him for the Manchester derby defeat.
The Frenchman would prefer to stay put but having fallen out of favour, believes he could well be forced to move on.

Ten Hag has already told Van de Beek that he is free to leave. The former Ajax man has never got going at United and has managed just two minutes in the league this term.
A transfer away in the summer didn't come to fruition but Ten Hag has opened the door for a January exit in a recent press conference, stating: "I can see he has to play for his career and for everything."
Casemiro looked to be an excellent addition for large parts of last season and was once described as "undroppable" but he has fell off and United now see him as dispensable.

And lastly, Martial is another player seemingly heading for the exit door.
The Frenchman, a £36 million signing from Monaco in 2015, was on the 'for sale' list but suffered a hamstring injury in pre-season.
United have the option to extend Martial's contract until 2025 but a fresh report claims they do no intend to trigger it.

He will therefore be a free agent in the summer, unless a club comes in for him in the January window.
