Rasmus Hojlund appeared to hit out at a Manchester United fan in a leaked Instagram direct message.
The Denmark international has been in and out of the side under new boss Ruben Amorim and has scored seven goals in 21 games this season - the majority of which have come in the Europa League.
A £72 million signing from Atalanta in 2023, Hojlund has been criticised for his inconsistency in front of goal and one fan slammed the 21-year-old on Instagram following the 2-0 defeat to Wolves on Boxing Day.
In a brutal rant, the supporter said Hojlund's best attribute is "whining his backside on defenders" and claimed he "can’t anticipate or position yourself into those goalscoring areas".

To finish up, the account said that the former Copenhagen man has a "trampoline touch and lack of hold up play".
But it appears as though Hojlund did not take too well to the comment and went out of his way to message the fan. On X, @utd8iiii wrote, "my mate posted about Rasmus and got sent this ffs".
A screenshot of the alleged message from Hojlund said: "Hi I find your post a bit disturbing mate. U are right to have to your opinion but stop takling [sic] about things u know nothing about. That is all."

With people doubting the legitimacy of the message, the user screen recorded the message in order to provide further proof and attached another screenshot.
The account in question has reacted to the surprise turn of events. In a series of tweets, they wrote: "Rasmus trying to call me mate. I just want good strikers back at my club. That is all.
"Scary hours when your £72m signing’s most meaningful contribution is beefing with a 5K Insta account."
Michael Owen leaps to Rasmus Hojlund's defence
Hojlund has cut a frustrated figure for large parts of his career at United, who are 14th in the table after 18 games. But while Hojlund has been panned, former United and England striker Michael Owen feels sorry for him at the moment.

“You want your best players on the ball. I’ve sat here and watched Hojlund all first half, and I don’t know what I’d do if I was him at the moment,” Owen said working as a pundit for Premier League Productions.
“Centre-forward for Manchester United, you get so many chances it’s impossible not to score, but he had six passes in that first half, four by defenders. It’s the hardest position at the moment.
“The team is just not functioning well enough to get him any service. He’s been there over a year now.”
