Man Utd could sign another PSG player after sealing Manuel Ugarte transfer

Man Utd could sign another PSG player after sealing Manuel Ugarte transfer

United's sudden interest in Ugarte came as a surprise earlier this week - but he could be followed to Old Trafford by another PSG player.

Manchester United could reportedly turn their attentions towards signing another Paris Saint-Germain player after completing a deal for Manuel Ugarte.

Sky Sports reported on Tuesday that United had made an initial approach to sign the Uruguay midfielder, who is currently representing his country at the Copa America.

It is claimed that the club are discussing their next steps internally, with the 23-year-old's contract at PSG expiring in June 2028. He signed for the reigning Ligue 1 winners from Sporting Lisbon for £51.1 million last summer.

According to the Daily Mail, PSG would be willing to sell Ugarte but will want to recoup the majority of the transfer fee that they paid to bring him to Parc des Princes.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Ugarte might not be the only PSG player United will sign if they can successfully get a deal over the line.

Taking to Twitter, he detailed talks between the two clubs: "Manuel Ugarte has chances to leave PSG this summer as the club is open to selling him in case of good proposal.

"Manchester United made contact with PSG, talks were on several players and possibilities including Ugarte; no bid has been submitted."

While the identity of the other player(s) in question has not been revealed, United have expressed interest in signing another Ligue 1 star - Nice centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo.

Erik ten Hag's side were linked with the Frenchman, who signed for the Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS-owned French club in 2021, last summer but couldn't complete a deal.

However, a deal is seen as highly unlikely due to UEFA ownership rules.

Teams who have the same ownership and will be playing in the same European competition are not permitted to complete deals between one another. Both Nice and United have qualified for the Europa League next season.

However, journalist Sacha Tavolieri has claimed that United have enlisted the services of Swiss lawyer Gianpaolo Montener as they plan to contest the ruling at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
