Man Utd receive unexpected windfall after Borussia Dortmund reach Champions League final

Borussia Dortmund reaching the Champions League final is good news Manchester United.

Manchester United will receive an unexpected windfall after Borussia Dortmund beat Paris Saint-Germain to reach the Champions League final.

Dortmund beat PSG 1-0 on Tuesday (2-0 on aggregate) to book their place in the Champions League final.

The defeat saw the French giants create an unwanted record in the competition.

After the match, Dortmund poked fun at their counterparts with a brutal dig on social media.

The German club reaching the Champions League is good news for Man United, who have landed a super windfall.

It means Man United are set to bag the majority of the €4 million (£3.5 million) in add-ons in the loan deal which saw Jadon Sancho return to Dortmund, according to Ben Jacobs.

Of course, Sancho re-joined his old side during the January transfer window after falling out with Erik ten Hag.

The Bundesliga outfit paid an initial €3.5 million (£3 million) loan fee, rising to €7.5 million (£6.5 million) dependent on clauses being triggered.

As a result of the club's passage to the Wembley showpiece, the Red Devils will secure most of the add-ons.

Sancho will return to Old Trafford at the end of the season when his loan deal expires.

But a permanent move away from the Premier League team is expected to happen during the summer transfer window.

Rio Ferdinand, however, believes that the 24-year-old will be welcomed back at Man United if Ten Hag leaves.

"He is in good form and needs to follow it up, then he really puts pressure on Manchester United," he said on TNT Sports.

"People behind the scenes, INEOS, will be asking why that isn’t happening in a United shirt. I think the only way he goes back is if Erik ten Hag isn’t there.

"I don’t think they can undermine the manager without an apology, I think the manager has to be gone for Sancho to go back to Manchester United."
