PSG made unwanted Champions League history in semi-final defeat to Borussia Dortmund

Paris Saint-Germain lost a sixth Champions League semi-final out of seven, losing both legs to Borussia Dortmund.

Paris Saint-Germain are now responsible for a piece of unwanted Champions League history after suffering yet another semi-final defeat.

Luis Enrique's side lost 2-0 on aggregate to Borussia Dortmund, with Mats Hummels scoring the only goal of the game at the Parc des Princes.

Dortmund defended heroically to reach a third Champions League final and run it back at Wembley, eleven years after they faced Bayern Munich.

But PSG were also guilty of some poor finishing over both legs, spurning a number of golden opportunities.

Remarkably, PSG hit the woodwork on SIX occasions across the two fixtures - including four in the second leg.

Kylian Mbappe, Warren Zaire-Emery, Nuno Mendes and Vitinha all struck the goal-frame.

And incredibly, according to Opta, PSG now hold the unwanted record in the Champions League.

In this season's competition they have hit the woodwork a staggering time, which is the highest since Opta started collecting data in 2003/04.

It eclipses Barcelona's tally of 11 many years back, while PSG also mustered a remarkable 44 shots without finding the net.

The Ligue One giants are still waiting for a first Champions League triumph, having failed to get over the line ever since the Qatari investment came in and €2 billion was spent.

They have lost six out of the seven semi-finals they have contested and after the one where they did triumph, PSG were beaten 1-0 by Bayern in the Lisbon final.

"I think a tight match but to be honest I think we deserved to win that match," PSG boss Luis Enrique reflected in an interview with TNT Sports.

"We created 31 shots and hit [four posts].

"In the two matches we hit the post six times and we didn't score a goal, it's unbelievable.

"Football is so unfair sometimes."

Dortmund will face the winner of Bayern and Real Madrid in the final on 1 June.
