Gareth Southgate has provided an update on whether he will succeed Erik ten Hag as Manchester United manager as the former England manager breaks his silence on his future.
The 54-year-old has been heavily linked to the United job since before Euro 2024, with new major shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe reportedly an admirer of the former England boss.
Southgate's only previous managerial experience at club level came for Middlesbrough between 2006 and 2009.

With current United manager Ten Hag under serious threat following a second consecutive worst start to a season in the club's history, Southgate's name has once again been thrown into the mix.
Southgate left his position as England boss shortly after his defeat to Spain in the final of Euro 2024, after guiding the nation to four consecutive quarter-finals including two finals and a semi-final.
Speaking on Thursday at the ECA general assembly, Southgate gave an update on where his future in management lies.

"I won’t coach in the next year, for sure. I’m certain of that," he admitted
"I need to give myself time to make good decisions. When you come out of a really big role you need to give your body time, you need to give your mind time."
Southgate's comments appear to rule him out of succeeding the Dutchman, however, Ten Hag's future looks to be secure for now despite the disastrous start to the season.
United sit 14th in the Premier League table after seven matches, and have scored the second fewest goals in the entire division with just five.

On Tuesday, it was reported that Ratcliffe and some of United’s board members such as Joel Glazer and CEO Omar Berrada, were involved in a seven-hour-long meeting over Ten Hag's future.
As reported by The Mirror, Ratcliffe chose to leave the building via the back door in a bid to avoid answering questions from the media.
