David Beckham sends message to his son Romeo after he 'quits football' to pursue new career

David Beckham's son has reportedly quit football.

David Beckham has sent a heartfelt message to his son Romeo Beckham amid reports that he has decided to quit football.

David Beckham is one of the most iconic footballer's in history, so it was always going to be difficult for his children to follow in his footsteps on the pitch.

That didn't stop them trying though, with second son Romeo coming the closest to enjoying a career as a footballer.

The attacker spent time at Arsenal's academy, before joining Inter Miami - the club his dad owns - in 2021.

After two years playing for Miami's B team, Romeo returned to London to join Brentford.

However, according to reports, the 22-year-old has turned down the chance to play for Brentford's reserve team and will instead embark on a new career in fashion.

It's believed that his mother, Victoria Beckham, has inspired the career change, with Romeo understood to have signed with top fashion agent Safe Management.

A source speaking to The Sun said: “Romeo has decided to hang up his football boots and devote his time to his fashion career.

“He has loved his time at Brentford but needs to focus his attention on fashion, which is where his passion lies.

“Romeo has recently signed with a top fashion agent in Paris and has his sights set on working with some massive brands.”

Amid reports that his son has given up the beautiful game, on Sunday Beckham sent Romeo a touching message on his 22nd birthday.

The former England star wrote on Instagram: "Happy 22nd Birthday to my beautiful boy... We are so proud of the man you have turned into, kind, passionate, and hard working... Have the most amazing day because you deserve it... Love you mate so much."

Romeo is not the only child of Beckham's to try and make it as a professional football.

His oldest son, Brooklyn, was in Arsenal's academy, but he left in 2015 after not receiving the offer of a scholarship.

Instead, he turned his hand to modelling and photography.
