Manchester United legend and Inter Miami president/co-owner David Beckham has sent a message to Lionel Messi after the Argentinian broke one of his many records.
Messi inspired the MLS side to their maiden MLS Supporters’ Shield last night, with the Argentine netting a brace in a 3-2 win over Columbus Crew.
The triumph is Miami's second taste of silverware since Messi's arrival in the US, having captured the Leagues Cup in August 2023.

The Argentinian has been a huge hit in America following his move from PSG in 2023 with the presence of fellow ex-Barcelona men Jordi Alba, Luis Suarez and Sergio Busquets helping him to settle into his new surroundings.
Since they began playing in the MLS Eastern Conference in 2020, several high-profile names have donned the pink shirt of Miami, with Blaise Matuidi and Gonzalo Higuain just a couple of the club's former stars.
Beckham is regularly seen watching from the stands at the Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale and at times has cut an emotional figure, seemingly in disbelief at what he has been able to build after coming up with the idea of creating his own football team a decade ago.

Messi has continued to make records tumble this term. The Argentinian has made 17 appearances for Miami in total during the 2024/25 campaign, scoring 17 goals and registering 10 assists and his latest contribution ensured that he moved ahead of Beckham in one particular statistic.
The 2022 World Cup winner netted a sumptuous free-kick against Columbus to bring up his 66th goal directly from a set-piece to surpass Beckham’s tally of 65.
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid winger took to social media to congratulate Messi, writing: “So proud to see our players lift the Supporters' Shield after a great win in Columbus.

"Another amazing achievement in the history of this football club and so happy to bring this trophy to the best fans in the League. Now we go again and onto the next one."
Messi also spoke after the triumph and was keen to set his sights on the MLS Cup, which will take place in December, "The first objective has been achieved and now we have to think about what's next," he said.
"The first round is three games but then it's one game and anything can happen. But we have the great advantage of playing all the games at home, which is what we were looking for. We are very strong at home."
