Manchester United fans have told Erik ten Hag to replace the injured Luke Shaw with youngster Alvaro Fernandez.
After United’s dreadful 2-0 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend, they have been dealt a huge injury blow ahead of their match against Nottingham Forest this Saturday.
It was reported that defender Shaw has suffered an injury that will keep him out for a while.
According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, who said: “Luke Shaw has suffered a muscular injury + is expected to be sidelined for an extended period.

“Assessments ongoing in hope 28yo left-back will miss weeks rather than months.”
With fellow senior left-back Tyrell Malacia also injured, Ten Hag is faced with a slight crisis in that position with just one week left of the summer transfer window.
On the back of this injury news, United fans have taken to social media to name their ideal Shaw replacement.

20-year-old Spaniard Fernandez seems to be a popular choice amongst the United fanbase.
One said: “Let Álvaro Fernández cook for Manchester United. No Tyrell Malacia, Brandon Williams has left on loan, might as well find out if he has what it takes. Crisis breeds opportunity, could be the best thing that has happened.”
Another tweeted: “It’s time for Alvaro Fernández to get his chance.”
A third fan added: “Why play Dalot when we have a Luke Shaw upgrade within? Give me Alvaro Fernandez. Let us make our mark.”

Someone else wrote: “Let Alvaro Fernandez shine against Nottingham Forest. Kid can play.”
Whilst a fifth commented: “Alvaro Fernández is 20 years old he has to be given a chance at some point and now is that time! Sometimes it only takes one game to change your life look at Rashford…”

During United’s pre-season tour, Fernandez played in a 3-1 defeat against League Two side Wrexham but was an unused substitute against the likes of Arsenal, Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.
