Further goals from Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial secured a comfortable 3-0 victory for United.
Speaking on the latest episode of The Rest Is Football podcast, Shearer delivered an X-rated response when told what the xG was for Garnacho’s goal.
Co-host Gary Lineker said: “They were talking about xG, and she(Kelly Cates) read it out and it was 0.08 xG which means that he would score that eight times out of 100.

“And I’m thinking, ‘eight times out of 100? You do that once in a million!”
At this point, Shearer said: “If you’re lucky.” Before later adding: “If you don’t believe in xG like one or two of us don’t then that’s the perfect opportunity to say what a pile of sh*t that was!
“Eight of out 100, really?”

According to The Athletic, Shearer said of Garnacho’s goal: “Sensational, spectacular; he’s moving away from goal but look at the speed of his thought process and his balance.
“If ever there was a good time to produce a piece of brilliance, that was it.”
He continued: “Efforts this good don’t come around very often — every decade or so. That’s how great they are, and why people love them so much.”
United boss Erik ten Hag said: “Probably goal of the season. Also the build-up, not just the finish, was very good. The finish is fantastic.”

Garnacho himself said: “I cannot believe it. To be honest I just turned around and thought 'Oh my god'. One of the best I have scored - I am happy.”
