Manchester City drop major transfer hint on club website days before new Premier League season starts

Man City have given fans a transfer hint.

Manchester City have dropped a major transfer hint on their official website just days before the start of their season.

Last season saw Man City win a record fourth successive Premier League title, a year on from their historic treble achievement.

In 2024-25 Pep Guardiola's side will look to make it five league crowns in a row, but before they begin their title defence they will face Manchester United in Saturday's Community Shield at Wembley.

It's been a relatively quiet summer at the Etihad Stadium in terms of transfers, with the silence only broken by the imminent departure of Julian Alvarez.

The 24-year-old World Cup winner is set to join Atletico Madrid in a £81 million move, two-and-a-half years since City signed him for £14m.

Two other first-team stars, Kevin de Bruyne and Ederson, have been linked with moves to Saudi Arabian clubs.

The latter is reportedly open to leaving City and is believed to have been seriously considering a proposal from Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr.

The 30-year-old took part in City's pre-season tour of the United states after missing Brazil's Copa America campaign through injury.

Talk of the goalkeeper leaving the club has quietened down in recent weeks, and now the club have dropped a hint that he could be staying put.

On Thursday (August 8) City launched their away kit for the upcoming 2024-25 campaign, with several men's and women's team stars photographed modelling the new strip.

Alongside the likes of Erling Haaland, De Bruyne and Jess Park was Ederson, who showed off the new orange goalkeeper kit.

While the shoot will have taken place months ago and so was always going to include the club's first-choice goalkeeper, the fact that City decided to publish his image in the new kit suggests that they are confident he will remain at the club this summer.

City's new away kit - a navy-blue shirt with neon yellow vertical stripes - pays homage to their victory in the 1999 Division Two play-off final.

City trailed Gillingham 2-0 before scoring two goals in injury-time and winning the subsequent penalty shootout.
