Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz makes major decision over his future that will rock world football

Wirtz has reportedly made up his mind amid interest from Real Madrid and Manchester City.

Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz has reportedly come to a major decision over his future.

The 21-year-old is regarded as one of the hottest prospects in world football, and played a key role in Leverkusen's unbeaten Bundesliga season last term.

He already has six goals and five assists to his name this season, as well as a further five goals in just six Champions League matches.

Wirtz was also one of just 11 players to score at least two goals at Euro 2024.

Reports have repeatedly linked him with a move to Real Madrid, who are seemingly considering the attacking midfielder as one of their marquee signings next summer.

But he has also been linked with Arsenal and Bayern Munich, while The Times claim that he is a top target for Pep Guardiola and Manchester City as the Spaniard looks for a solution to his side's recent form.

Wirtz's reported price tag is €150 million, with Leverkusen understandably desperate to keep hold of one of their star players that has a contract until 2027.

Meanwhile, the Germany international has now made a decision over his future.

According to German outlet Kicker, Wirtz will reject any interest from the likes of Real, Bayern and City and instead decide to extend his contract with Leverkusen, in a major coup for Xabi Alonso's side.

It is claimed that he has agreed to extend his current deal by a further year alongside a significant pay increase.

Wirtz is now said to be the first Leverkusen player in history to earn a salary in the double-digit salary in euros, though it would be lower than the amount he could have commanded from Bayern.

With his future now seemingly locked down for the next three seasons at least, top European clubs may have to look elsewhere to sign a new attacking midfielder.
