Xabi Alonso reportedly has a clause in his Bayer Leverkusen contract that could worry Liverpool fans.
Back in October 2022, Alonso was hired by Bayer Leverkusen to replace Gerardo Seoane with the club sitting second from bottom after eight matches.
Under the guidance of the former Liverpool midfielder, Leverkusen shot up the table to finish in sixth place whilst also reaching the semi-finals of the Europa League.
This season, Leverkusen have made a brilliant start as they currently sit top of the Bundesliga table, two points ahead of champions Bayern Munich.

As a result of the fine job that Alonso has done with Leverkusen, he has been linked with a move away.
Back in September, it was reported that La Liga giants Real Madrid are targeting Alonso as Carlo Ancelotti’s replacement, with the Italian expected to leave and join the Brazil national team.
It is believed that the bosses at Madrid are not too worried about Alonso's lack of experience and are willing to take a risk on him being the new manager.
Many Liverpool fans have picked Alonso as Jurgen Klopp’s successor as he was a firm favourite during his time playing for the Anfield club.

However, Liverpool fans’ dream of having Alonso in their dugout could be dashed.
According to German news outlet Suddeutsche Zeitung, Alonso has a clause in his contract which allows him to leave for Madrid if they make an offer between €15 million and €18 million.
However, in a previous interview, Alonso admitted that he has dreamt of managing Liverpool.

Alonso told talkSPORT: “Yes for sure, I have dreamt of that, but first I have to prove myself and prepare.
“If I decide somewhere along the way to take my chances as a manager, my link, my commitment, my passion with Liverpool is there.”
The Spaniard continued: “Why not? We will see if we can cross paths in our ways.”
