Manchester United have set a 'new asking price' for Marcus Rashford after Aston Villa form and England recall

Marcus Rashford has been recalled to the England squad and Manchester United have reportedly made a major change.

Manchester United have set a new asking price for Marcus Rashford after his Aston Villa form saw him earn a recall to the England squad.

Rashford signed on loan for Villa in January after being frozen out at boyhood club United by new manager Ruben Amorim and has impressed for Unai Emery's side.

Though he is yet to find the net for Villa, Rashford has registered four assists and looked incredibly sharp whenever called upon.

He was selected by Thomas Tuchel in his first England squad and is in line to play for the Three Lions for the first time since his last cap just under a year ago.

It looks incredibly unlikely that Rashford will play for United again and it has been widely reported that Villa have the option to purchase him permanently for £40 million.

After his stock dropped and he found himself well out of favour, that was reflected in United's value of Rashford and when their asking price was reported - some fans wondered whether it was a typo.

However, with Rashford finding his feet and getting back into the England picture, it has been claimed that United are poised to increase their asking price.

And with Barcelona and Bayern Munich also keeping tabs on the situation, United's former chief scout Mick Brown believes they are now able to command a much higher fee for Rashford in the summer.

“Man United are going to demand a high fee for him,” Brown told Football Insider.

“Their asking price has increased after he was recalled into the England squad.

“I said when he went to Villa that the move would be a win-win-win situation for the three of them, and I think that has been proven already.

“Villa have benefited from his impressive performances, he’s been allowed to show what he can do, and now Man United can benefit from his sale.

“They’ve got the best out of a bad situation at United, really.

“It looked like they’d have to sell him on the cheap, but his value has only gone up.

“With the interest from Villa and from abroad, and a place in the England squad showing how highly-rated he is, it will allow them to drive up his asking price.

“I think it’s likely he will leave Man United in the summer, but they want to make the most money possible from that sale.”

Rashford's value has increased

Rashford came through the ranks at United and made 426 appearances for his boyhood club, scoring 138 times. After his incredible 30-goal season in the 2022/23 season under Erik ten Hag, which resulted in a mammoth £325,000-a-week contract, it was reported that United would have entertained offers of £100 million for Rashford.

They are unlikely to get a fee that high but respected website Transfer Markt say he now has a market value of €55 million at present.
