Anthony Gordon interview resurfaces online and two of his answers have got Liverpool fans talking

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon.

An interview involving Anthony Gordon has resurfaced and it has got Liverpool fans talking.

Back in May, it was reported that Liverpool were interested in signing Newcastle United star Gordon.

It later emerged that the Reds turned down a deal to bring in the England international after Newcastle reportedly asked for Jarell Quansah to be included in the transfer.

Providing an update on the situation, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano said, as per DaveOCKOP: “Internally Liverpool are discussing the situation of Anthony Gordon in case they do something in offensive positions. Gordon gave Green light to the move in June.

“Liverpool’s interest in Anthony Gordon remains strong. He is a player they really rate internally!”

As Gordon continues to be linked with a switch to Anfield, an old interview has resurfaced.

The 23-year-old was asked by Fubo: “Who was your idol growing up?” He replied: “Steven Gerrard”.

Gordon was then asked to name the best player he had played against.

He said: “I’d say directly against I would like (Achraf) Hakimi for Paris Saint Germain, he was definitely the best right-back.

“But, on the pitch, I’ll probably say Mo Salah.”

Reacting on social media, one fan said: “He wants us more than we want him.”

Another tweeted: “Bro want us so baddd..”

A third fan added: “Gordon has become Liverpool obsessed these last few weeks.”

Someone else wrote: “Just come to Liverpool bro.”

A fifth commented: “Literally just let the guy leave every interview he’s talking about us.”

Another fan said: “Yeah at this rate he’s asking for it.”

Liverpool are yet to bring in any new players this summer and when quizzed on the matter, head coach Arne Slot said: “The first aim is to work with these players. The disadvantage is that many of them aren't here yet. The positive is that it gives us time to take a good look at the youngsters.

“There is an important line at the club that young players come through. Our standards are really high when it comes to bringing in new players. Of course, Richard (Hughes) and I are trying to improve the squad where possible.”
