Liverpool fans are all worried about one specific thing after it was confirmed that rival Manchester City's midfield star Rodri would likely miss the rest of the season.
21 minutes into his first match of the 2024/25 season, Rodri went down injured during City's potentially season-defining clash with Arsenal at the Etihad stadium.
While initially the extent of his injury was not known, it was later confirmed by The Athletic's David Ornstein that the 28-year-old suffered a serious knee injury and will now face an extended period of time away from football.

And after hearing the news, some Liverpool fans have taken to social media with a theory that has left them worried.
With Kevin de Bruyne also currently injured, the news about Rodri has left City short staffed in midfield, meaning they will almost certainly look to bring in reinforcements in the position during the January transfer window.
And Liverpool fans think that this may lead them to pursue Martin Zubimendi, the Real Sociedad midfielder who flirted with coming to Anfield over the summer.

Posting on X, one fan wrote: "Imagine if Rodri has done his ACL and City go and get Zubimendi in January.
"I think I'd implode😂😂"
Another agreed, writing: "I have a sly feeling City are going to go out and pick up Zubimendi."
One fan joked: "Let's see if Zubimendi's mountain is better than the 200 millions City are gonna put on the table."

While a City fan pointed out that they would love to bring the Spaniard to the club, writing: "Well since Rodri is now out for the season I believe city should target Zubimendi. A players I’ve been wanting at city for a good while now and I believe he’d be perfect."
Zubimendi looked almost certain to join Liverpool during the summer transfer window, but the deal ultimately fell through after the Spaniard decided to stay with boyhood club Real Sociedad.
Therefore, if he were to join City less than six months later it would undoubtedly be frustrating for Liverpool fans.

Furthermore, with recent rumours suggesting that Zubimendi may be open to joining Liverpool when the transfer window reopens, it could also deal a blow to Arne Slot's plans for January.
