A former Liverpool player who requested to leave the club on Arne Slot's first day in charge has said he would be interested in returning to Anfield in the future.
Sepp van den Berg left Liverpool to sign for fellow Premier League club Brentford in August, and has already made 20 league appearances for the Bees.
The Dutchman joined Liverpool from PEC Zwolle in 2021 but failed to make a senior appearance, instead spending loan spells at Preston North End, Schalke and Mainz.

While a centre-back by trade, the 23-year-old has also been deployed at right-back at Brentford by manager Thomas Frank.
He is currently out injured with a knee problem suffered in the 1-0 win over West Ham earlier this month, but Frank confirmed that the injury was 'minor' and that he is expected to return in weeks rather than months.

Now, speaking to Dutch outlet Voetbal Primeur, Van den Berg has revealed that, while a return to Liverpool is not on the agenda in the near future, he is interested in coming back to Anfield further down the line.

He said: "Before the preparation [pre-season] started, I already indicated to the club that I wanted to leave and play minutes.
"I would be lying if I said that I did not dream of returning to Liverpool one day. That is still on my mind.
"But, for now, it was better for my career to take a different path and play a lot. That is what I am doing now and that allows me to develop as well as possible.
"After the preparation, Liverpool indicated that I had done so well that they wanted me to stay. But I did not really see that happening myself.

"It [the decision to leave] was all my choice. I am happy that I now play in the Premier League every week."
