Liverpool player makes cryptic social media post after ruthless Arne Slot transfer decision

Liverpool player makes cryptic social media post after ruthless Arne Slot transfer decision

Another Liverpool player looks set to be on the way out.

Liverpool midfielder Bobby Clark made a cryptic post on social media amid reports that he is close to leaving the club.

According to The Athletic, RB Salzburg have made a bid of £8.5 million to sign the 19-year-old, who came through the Liverpool academy.

Salzburg are now managed by former Reds assistant Pep Lijnders, who is said to want to reunite with Clark on a permanent basis.

It is claimed, though, that the bid is 'significantly short' of how much Liverpool value the midfielder, who is the son of Newcastle icon Lee Clark, but that the club are willing to negotiate a sale.

Several Championship sides have also expressed interest in loaning the youngster, including Leeds and Sheffield United.

The news comes after Arne Slot confirmed that Liverpool had reached an agreement with another club to sell midfielder Fabio Carvalho.

The 21-year-old will reportedly join Brentford after the Bees agreed a £29.5 million fee last week.

Carvalho spent last season on loan at RB Leipzig and Championship side Hull before returning to Anfield for the beginning of pre-season.

Clark, meanwhile, has spent his entire career to date at Liverpool, making 14 senior appearances for the club.

He was a 72nd-minute substitute as the Reds defeated Chelsea 1-0 in the Carabao Cup final last season, with fellow youngsters Jayden Danns and James McConnell also making an appearance late on.

His feelings about potentially leaving the club that he joined in 2021 appear to have been made clear in a new social media post.

Taking to Twitter, Clark posted a photo of himself in Liverpool training - with the photo filtered in black-and-white.

A former England youth international, Clark would add to a talented young squad at Salzburg which has required new additions following the sale of key centre-back Strahinja Pavlovic to AC Milan for around €18 million.

Midfielder Luka Sucic, meanwhile, has joined Real Sociedad for around €10 million.
