Liverpool fans could be about to suffer further disappointment in the summer transfer window with another deal hanging in the balance.
Arne Slot is yet to make a senior signing since replacing Jurgen Klopp as manager, Liverpool are the only side in the Premier League not to make an addition this summer.
Slot and sporting director Richard Hughes had identified Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi as the perfect addition to the squad and a deal was lined up to sign the Spain star before the 25-year-old made a last minute U-turn to stay at his boyhood club.

Liverpool are interested in a move for Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili who impressed at Euro 2024 with Georgia.
Slot currently has no need for a new no.1 with Alisson Becker still regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in world football but the opportunity to sign Mamardashvili at a cut-price is seen as an opportunity they do not want to pass up.
However, according to Plaza Deportiva, tensions are growing at Valencia at Liverpool’s delay in sealing a deal for the 23-year-old with their current bid falling short of the Spanish side’s valuation of their star player.

The situation is described as ‘bizarre’ due to Liverpool’s agreement with the goalkeeper that will see him join fellow Premier League side Bournemouth on loan for one or two years before eventually moving to Anfield.
Premier League rules mean Liverpool wouldn’t be able to sign him and loan him straight to the Cherries meaning he would be loaned to Bournemouth from Valencia before making his move to Merseyside official at a later date.
Mamardashvili has returned to training as the move hangs in the balance with Valencia growing concerned over the length of time of the negotiations, leaving them less time and less resources to replace their first-choice shot stopper.

Valencia head coach Ruben Baraja told reporters when asked for an update on his future: "As of today, Mamardashvili is a Valencia player and he is fully focused on the next game. This is the current situation for that story."
Liverpool are believed to have bid €30m which falls short of Valencia’s €40m valuation.
Alisson Becker still has three years to run on his current Liverpool deal but has been linked with a huge move to the Saudi Pro League.
