A forgotten Liverpool player who signed for the club five years ago could reportedly be handed a chance to impress by incoming boss Arne Slot.
Back in 2019, Liverpool completed the signing of Dutch defender Sepp van den Berg from PEC Zwolle in a deal that could reach £4.4 million.
Since then, the 22-year-old has been loaned to the likes of Preston North End, Schalke and most recently, Mainz.
Although Mainz are struggling in the world end of the Bundesliga, Van Den Berg has enjoyed a promising season.

The Dutchman ranks second in the division for most aerial duels won with 172, he also ranks fifth for most duels won(348).
As a result, it has been claimed that Van Den Berg could be given a chance to impress new boss Slot in the summer.
According to Daily Mirror journalist Ryan Taylor, via Anfield Edition, who wrote on social media: “Sepp van den Berg is set to be handed the chance to impress in pre season following a productive loan spell with Mainz in the Bundesliga.”
Back in February, Van Den Berg spoke about his Liverpool future.

He told Voetbal Nieuws, via The Echo: “If I go back to Liverpool, they might want me to stay. If I see that I won't get much game time, then I might choose to leave. It's really important to me that I play.
“In previous years, I didn't feel like I would be starting next to Virgil [van Dijk}. I don't know yet what my chances will be like next summer. I think I'm doing well. I can handle playing at Liverpool. I can compete. But being a starter is different. Virgil and [Ibrahima] Konate are not easy to beat. I know it will be hard.”
Feyenoord boss Slot is set to replace Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool boss after the 23/24 season.

Speaking this week, the Dutchman said: “For the 25th time, I really can't answer it.
“There is nothing official yet and I am sitting here with a Feyenoord emblem on my chest, so the intention is for this press conference to be about Feyenoord, but I think you will try (and ask about Liverpool) anyway.”
Slot added: “I still have the confidence that things will turn out well, but I really can't give any further answers.”
