Gary Lineker directed a brutal jibe at Frank Lampard during the BBC’s coverage of Germany vs Hungary.
Lampard, Alex Scott and Thomas Frank were part of the BBC’s panel for Germany's 2-0 victory against Hungary on Wednesday.
And, as noted by Lineker when watching back coverage of Berlin-based Germany fans wildly celebrating a goal, the broadcaster’s studio is based directly in front of the city’s Brandenburg Gate near a fan park that screens games.

Lineker explained to the studio that the footage of wild celebrations had actually been filmed just beyond the studio, the other side of a large screen in the distance.
“I wish they'd take that screen down, then we'd see all the punters,” Lineker said. “But if they took the screen down, they wouldn't be able to watch the game.”
Lampard responded: “The back of our heads... who wouldn't turn up for that?”

Lineker then took a brutal and seemingly unprovoked pop at Lampard’s hair, by saying: “No one wants to see the back of your head these days, do they, Frank? That's for sure.”
The comment sparked disbelief in the studio and led to Lampard's face visibly dropping for a second as Lineker changed the subject.
Fans on X, formally Twitter, were quick to respond to the claims, with one person saying: “That's savage”, and another responding: “Fuming!!!!”

A third, meanwhile, added: “That's a booking, Gary,” while a fourth said: “He didn't have to do Frank like that.”
Alongside laughing emojis a fifth said: “The moment he realised man.”
