Jamie Carragher takes phone call live on air from unexpected person as entire CBS panel left stunned

The CBS Champions League show was interrupted by a surprise yet unexpected guest.

Jamie Carragher took a phone call while live on CBS Sports - and nobody was expecting who was on the other side.

Carragher was on-air for the Champions League quarter-final first leg matches on Wednesday, with Thierry Henry, Micah Richards and host Kate Scott alongside him.

Midway through a segment, the Liverpool legend's phone went off, and he scrambled to quickly answer it.

It's not the first time such an occurrence has happened to Carragher, as he was once interrupted by a call from former Preston North End manager Ryan Lowe while recording an episode of The Overlap's Stick to Football podcast.

This time, it was none other than his daughter Mia - who was calling to find out where her mother, Carragher's wife Nicola, was.

Carragher replied: "She wants to know where her mum is. I don't know. I'm in London babe, in the studio. I don't know.

"Do you want to go on loudspeaker live on CBS?"

What happened next was around 90 seconds of chaos as Richards and Scott keen to ask a few questions.

She didn't reply to Richards asking whether Carragher favoured her or her brother James, who plays for Wigan Athletic and the Malta national team.

But she did reply when asked what her father was like at home: "He's lovely. Now and again [you shout at me]."

Richards then jokingly asked Carragher to address an apology to the camera, with his co-pundit responding: "You've just heard Mia Carragher live on air. That's a thing. She'll be winning awards in the future, that's for sure - she won't just be nominated!"

Scott has been nominated for the Outstanding Personality/Studio Host award at this year's Sports Emmys.

Her competitors are TNT's Ernie Johnson, NBC's Mike Tirico, ESPN's Scott van Pelt and NFL Network's Scott Hanson.

Announcing the news on Tuesday's CBS show, Richards congratulated Scott by stating: "We have a nominee for an Emmy! Take it away, Kate."
