Arsenal 'plotting bid for Real Madrid star' after breakdown in relationship with Carlo Ancelotti

Arsenal 'plotting bid for Real Madrid star' after breakdown in relationship with Carlo Ancelotti

Mikel Arteta is interested in signing the Real Madrid player this summer.

Arsenal are plotting a shock bid for a Real Madrid star ahead of the summer transfer window reopening.

Mikel Arteta is on the hunt for new signings this summer after finishing in second place in the Premier League last season.

Arsenal are reportedly in the market for a central midfielder and a forward, with the likes of Aston Villa's Douglas Luiz and Newcastle United's Alexander Isak linked with a move to the Emirates.

And it appears the club are also looking to recruit another goalkeeper, having snapped up David Raya on an initial loan deal last summer, with an option to buy him on a permanent deal for £27 million.

According to Spanish outlet Cadena Cope, Arsenal are interested in signing Andriy Lunin this summer.

Lunin made 31 appearances in all competitions for Real last season as he covered for the injured Thibaut Courtois.

He played eight games in his side's Champions League-winning campaign, including both semi-final legs against Bayern Munich - improving his stock in the transfer market.

But it's claimed that the relationship between the Ukrainian goalkeeper and Carlo Ancelotti has broken down.

Lunin and his camp are weighing up a departure, with just one year remaining on the player's current contract.

Arsenal's pursuit of Lunin comes as a slight surprise considering Arteta's acquisition of Raya last summer.

The Spaniard played 32 games in his side's Premier League campaign and won the Golden Glove award for the most clean sheets in the top flight.

Arteta also boasts the services of Aaron Ramsdale, who joined Arsenal for £30 million in the summer of 2021.

Ramsdale played six league games before being dropped as the club's No.1.

He has since been the subject of intense transfer speculation, with the likes of Chelsea and Newcastle United thought to be interested in luring him away from London.
