Arda Güler has hit back at Dominik Szoboszlai after the Liverpool midfielder mentioned the amount of minutes he's played for Real Madrid this season – and things have turned nasty.
Turkey clinched promotion to the Nations League League A on Sunday as they recorded an emphatic 6-1 aggregate win over Hungary at the Puskás Aréna.
Hakan Çalhanoğlu, Arda Güler and Abdülkerim Bardakcı found the back of the net for Vincenzo Montella's side, who were already 3-1 ahead going into the second-leg clash in Budapest.

Away from the result and the biggest talking point from Sunday's game was an altercation between Dominik Szoboszlai and Arda Güler.
Shortly after scoring Turkey’s second goal of the night, Güler produced a 'shushing' gesture towards a furious Szoboszlai, just 12 months after the pair clashed during a heated international friendly.
Szoboszlai would take to Instagram after the full-time whistle, where he left a comment on the picture of Güler 'shushing' him, which was posted by Hungarian outlet Nemzeti Sport.

The comment simply read "1088", which happens to be the amount of minutes Guler has played for Real Madrid this season.
After making just 12 appearances in his debut campaign for Los Blancos in 2023/24, the talented playmaker has made 31 appearances this season, but 21 of those have come from the subs bench.
A few hours after Szoboszlai's comment went viral and Güler has now responded with a post of his own.
Taking to his Instagram story, the Turkey international posted a picture of the scoreline alongside a caption that read: "This guy is a joke. Isn't six goals enough to shut you up? [shush emoji]."

As you can see from the screenshot below, the picture he posted is also edited. Underneath Hungary's name on the scoreboard, it reads: "Szoboszlai 1 Instagram comment".

On the subject of Guler's lack of starts for Carlo Ancelotti's side this season, Turkey manager Vincenzo Montella commented on the situation as he continues to shine at national level.
"He's an exceptional footballer. We all know his talent and what he can contribute," said Montella.

"It's a well-known and generally accepted trend that players with a continuing presence at their clubs tend to be called up to the national team. But we must be understanding of Arda."
