Alisha Lehmann and Douglas Luiz have non-negotiable rule at home which fans won't have expected

The pair made the first 'couples' transfer in the summer of 2024 when they left Aston Villa for Juventus.

Juventus stars Alisha Lehmann and Douglas Luiz have a unique rule at home – and it may not be what you’d expect.

Lehmann, 26, and Luiz, 26, both made the switch from Aston Villa to Juventus in the summer of 2024 - a move dubbed as the first ‘couples’ transfer in football.

Due to the unique nature of their relationship, which they made public in 2021, the pair are often the subject of attention on social media and from the traditional press – with Lehmann boasting 16.6m Instagram followers, the most of any female professional footballer.

It is easy to forget that both players have represented their countries – Luiz with Brazil and Lehmann with Switzerland – during their careers.

Luiz revealed an unexpected ‘rule’ the pair have, when speaking to the Mail back in April 2024.

“People say we are like a celebrity couple but we are just normal," Luiz said.

"We go out for dinner. Go bowling. Go to the shop."

He even explained how his partner has helped him improve his language skills as she speaks five tongues.

"My English is much better because of her," Luiz added.

"My first two years I couldn’t speak English but then I met her and now I need to. We can't have an argument if I can't speak the language, can we? If we have an argument we can now resolve it in the moment. Before I had to use my phone to translate everything from Portuguese to English!

"The first time it happened I couldn't speak anything. It had to change.

"She speaks so many languages. I think five. German, French, English, Portuguese and Swedish. I have three — Portuguese, English, Spanish. It's not bad given that I didn't even finish school."

However, rather surprisingly given the pairs’ professions, football is not something they talk about at home – although they do try to attend each other's matches when they can.

"We do everything normal,” Luiz continued. “We go to dinner when we want. I am more a home person anyway. But of course, I do want to do some social things with her."
