Interim England boss Lee Carsley will take charge of his final game as manager against the Republic of Ireland on Sunday – but he had a few words of advice for Thomas Tuchel.
Carsley, 50, took charge of the Three Lions after Gareth Southgate left the role in July following England’s 2-1 defeat against Spain in the Euro 2024 final in Berlin, Germany.
Before former Chelsea, Bayern Munich and PSG boss Tuchel was officially announced as the new England head coach in mid-October.

Carsley was among several names, such as Eddie Howe and even Pep Guardiola, who were linked with the then-vacant role.
So far, during his five-game tenure, the 50-year-old had seen his side pick up four victories against Greece, the Republic of Ireland and Finland but did suffer a 2-1 loss against Greece at Wembley on October 10.
Carsley was asked if he had any parting advice for his successor, but he did admit that the German is more “experienced”.

“I am not sure I will give Thomas [Tuchel] a lot of advice,” Carsley explained.
“He is in a better position than I am in terms of the experience he has had and the staff he has.
“I’m putting together a lot of thoughts, as are the rest of the staff.
“I fully expect to catch up with him after the camp, and hopefully, we can hand the team over in a good position.”

The former Everton and Birmingham midfielder also opened up about being in the public eye, even revealing what fans say to him when they bump into him in coffee shops.
“It makes me laugh that everyone’s got an opinion on the team,” Carsley added.
“I’m on the road a lot, so service stations is where I seem to get the most advice.

“Some of it is good, some of it is not so good. I seem to meet a lot of West Ham fans, very Jarrod [Bowen]-heavy.
“It’s mainly team selection . . . I was in a queue in a Starbucks, and a fella was talking about the false nine and the tactics, after the Greece game. I just wanted a soy latte!”
Carsley will return to his previous role as England U-21 manager following Tuchel’s arrival.
