Fans are debating where David de Gea ranks in the all-time Premier League goalkeeper list upon the Spaniard’s departure from Manchester United.
On Saturday De Gea announced he was leaving United after failing to agree terms on a new contract. The shot-stopper leaves Old Trafford as a free agent after 12 seasons at the club.
In a statement posted on social media, De Gea said: "I just wanted to send this farewell message to all Manchester United supporters. I would like to express my unwavering gratitude and appreciation for the love from the last 12 years. We've achieved a lot since my dear Sir Alex Ferguson brought me to this club.

"I took incredible pride every time I pulled on this shirt. To lead the team, to represent this institution - the biggest club in the world - was an honour only bestowed upon a few lucky footballers.
"Now it's the right time to undertake a new challenge, to push myself again in new surroundings. It's been an unforgettable and successful period since I came here. I didn't think, from leaving Madrid as a young boy, we would achieve what we did together.
"Manchester will always be in my heart. Manchester has shaped me and will never leave me. We've seen it all."

De Gea departs United on a personal high, having just won his second Premier League Golden Glove for the most clean sheets in a season. And after a topsy-turvy 12 years in the Premier League, fans are debating where the 32-year-old ranks among the greats.
Where does David de Gea rank?
The consensus from fans on Twitter is that De Gea is among the ten best goalkeepers in Premier League history.
In response to a fan asking where De Gea ranked among the all-time Premier League keepers, one fan responded: “Yeah he's top 10. Would've been top 5 had he left in 2018.

Another person said: “Top 10, and imo, he has the award for the best performance by a GK in a single game.”
One said: “He’s minimum top 10.”
However, some supporters rated De Gea among the league’s top five.
One supporter said, “Top 5 if you disregard team accomplishments”, while another claimed, “His peak is top 3 of all time.”
