Harry Kane gave an interesting response when asked about a potential return to the Premier League while attending the Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris on Monday evening.
Kane, 31, was nominated for the coveted Ballon d’Or prize - won by Rodri - but was ranked tenth, with just one English player – Jude Bellingham (third) – boasting a higher ranking.
However, Kane’s 59 goals in 57 games – 44 in 45 appearances last season - did help him secure the Ballon d'Or Gerd Muller Trophy alongside Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappe, who will share the prize with Kane – Mbappe scored 44 goals in 48 appearances for PSG, last term.

Despite his impressive performances in the 2023-24 campaign, Kane’s efforts were not enough to secure the first trophy of his goal-laden career as Bayern finished third in the German top-flight, they lost in dramatic circumstances against Madrid in the Champions League semi-final as well as sustaining an embarrassing defeat to third-tier Saarbrücken in the DFB-Pokal second round.
Presumably, part of Kane’s thinking behind his move to Bavaria would have been the likely feat of securing silverware, but for now, his wait continues.
Given the fact he is England’s captain and all-time leading goalscorer, fans are always keen to know if he will return to his native country before he calls time on his career.

This question was put to him during the ceremony at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris.
“I’m really enjoying it [being at Bayern],” said Kane when speaking to Ellie Henman.
“I am learning and doing two lessons a week,” he added.

“I have a good teacher at Bayern.
“For me it is difficult but hopefully I will be there for many years and at some stage will be able to talk a bit of German.”
“Maybe one day [he'll return to England],” admitted Kane.
Of course, his lack of achievements at club level will always be a talking point, but scoring the joint-most goals in Europe during a calendar year is no mean feat.

Kane was visibly pleased when he accepted the Gerd Muller Trophy, which was presented to him by Bayern legend Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
"Thank you to my club, Bayern Munich, all my staff, and teammates, for helping me score all the goals I scored," Kane said.
"It's an honour to take this award from a club legend [Karl-Heinz Rummenigge]. It was a new chapter for me. Going to Germany, taking my family with me was a new experience, I didn't know what to expect.
"To get off to the start I did, credit to my teammates. I went along for the ride and we had a good season."
