Arsenal and Liverpool are plotting a move for Rennes midfielder Lovro Majer, according to reports, with the 25-year-old an international team-mate of Luka Modric.
Majer rose to prominence through his European performances at Dinamo Zagreb, scoring two goals and providing five assists in eight Europa Conference League games for the side in the 2020/21 season as they reached the quarter-finals.
Those displays earned him a move to Rennes in the summer of 2021, and he had an impressive first campaign in France. Majer scored six goals and added eight assists in 29 Ligue 1 appearances.

Rennes finished fourth last season, resulting in Europa League qualification. They did reach the play-off stage of the competition, but lost to Shakhtar Donetsk on penalties.
They currently remain in the fight to qualify for next season's competition - which they could be playing in without Majer at the club.
Arsenal, Liverpool 'plotting move for Majer'
The Croatian midfielder represented his country at senior level on 20 occasions and played at the 2022 World Cup, with his technical attributes meaning he could assume Modric's role in the national team when the Real Madrid legend retires.

Furthermore, he is said to be available to sign for £30 million.
That's according to the Daily Mail, who claim that Majer is 'open' to a new challenge away from Rennes.
It has been a difficult season for the 25-year-old, who has started just two Ligue 1 games in the last two months.
And it is reported that both Arsenal and Liverpool are keeping tabs on his situation ahead of a possible summer move - despite Tottenham being in contact with the club regularly.

Spurs' interest, however, is said to be with their loanee Djed Spence, who has spent the second half of the season in France after failing to break into the club's first team following his summer move from Middlesbrough.
Majer, meanwhile, was also linked with Eddie Howe's Newcastle this summer, and it remains to be seen whether the Magpies will go back in for the midfielder during the upcoming transfer window.
