Freddie Flintoff's wife was given horrific three-word warning before she saw Top Gear crash injuries for first time

Rachael Flintoff was told to brace herself before seeing her husband for the first time after his crash.

Freddie Flintoff's wife was given a horrific three-word warning before she saw her husband for the first time following the Top Gear accident as new footage of the crash been released.

The cricket legend - real name Andrew Flintoff - was involved in a serious crash while filming an episode of Top Gear in 2022 that left him with 'life-altering injuries'.

He had to be airlifted to hospital following a high speed smash at Dunsfold Park Aerodrome.

After the incident, Flintoff was out of the public eye as he recovered from his nasty injuries.

He has now opened up on his terrifying ordeal as part of an upcoming Disney+ documentary about his legendary cricket career and life.

The trailer shows his devastating crash for the first time.

His wife, Rachael, was given a horrifying warning before seeing her husband for the first time after the crash as she was told to 'expect the worst' and to brace herself for the extent of the injuries.

A source told The Sun: "The injuries were more severe as the car didn't have a roof. It was a freak accident and somehow the car flipped over and the two men were dragged along.

"Freddie and the crew members were both wearing helmets, but it was still a severe accident.

"Everyone on the scene was shocked by how serious it was, and they were very worried about the two men strapped in."

Reliving the crash, Flintoff said: "I remember everything about it. It's so vivid.

"This is what I'm left with... I wouldn't say I'm embracing them but I'm not trying to hide my scars."

On his motives behind the documentary and speaking about the accident, the 47-year-old added: "I’d lived under the radar for seven months, one of the real frustrations was the speculation, that’s why I’m doing this now.

"What actually happened?"

Opening up on how the crash has affected his outlook on life, he explained: "It's almost like a reset.

"I'm trying to find out what I am now. I've always seemed to be able to flick a switch. I've got to find that switch again."

The documentary - titled 'Flintoff' - will be released on April 25.
