Andrew Flintoff's wife was given three-word warning before she saw horrific Top Gear injuries for first time

Andrew Flintoff's wife was given three-word warning before she saw horrific Top Gear injuries for first time

The former England cricketer was involved in a life-changing crash while filming the show.

The three word warning given to Rachael Flintoff before seeing her husband after his serious Top Gear crash has been revealed.

Andrew 'Freddie' Flintoff was involved in a serious crash in 2022 while filming for the 34th season of BBC series Top Gear.

The cricketer and TV presenter joined the show in 2019, four years after the iconic trio of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May departed.

The crash left Flintoff with serious injuries, and a new report has revealed exactly what his wife Rachael was told before she saw her husband after the accident.

Before seeing Andrew for the first time after the crash, Rachael was reportedly told to 'expect the worst' and to brace herself for the extent of his injuries.

The crash, which happened on the Top Gear test track in Surrey, left Flintoff with facial scars and has led to him suffering from anxiety and nightmares.

A source told The Sun: "The injuries were more severe as the car didn't have a roof. It was a freak accident and somehow the car flipped over and the two men were dragged along.

"Freddie and the crew member were both wearing helmets, but it was still a severe accident.

"Everyone on the scene was shocked by how serious it was and they were very worried about the two men strapped in."

Flintoff recently spoke about the crash and revealed images of his injuries during the second series of his documentary Field of Dreams on Tour, which follows the former England international as he coaches a Preston cricket team on tour in India.

In a clip taken shortly after the accident, he said: "Genuinely should not be here after what happened. This is going to be a long road back and I have only just started and I am struggling already.

"I thought I could just shake it off. I wanted to shake it off and say 'here I am, I'm alright'. But it's not been a case of that, it's been a lot harder than I thought. As much as I wanted to go out and do things, I have just not been able to."

Flintoff and his wife, who is a former model, have been together for 22 years and got married after three years of dating.

The pair have four children together Holly, Corey, Rocky, and Preston.
