DeAndre Jordan has been savagely cut by the Los Angeles Lakers just one day after a video of his truly awful pass went viral online.

The NBA veteran made headlines for all the wrong reasons when he decided to launch a Hail Mary pass the full length of the court during the third quarter of the Lakers' 123-95 blowout loss to the New Orleans Pelicans.

Only the lofty pass didn't find the hands of one of Jordan's teammates.

Instead, it sailed far into the crowd as was probably caught by an unsuspecting fan in attendance.

When footage of the pass surfaced on social media, it instantly went viral and racked up thousands of views.

Now the lacklustre Lakers have decided to cut ties with the towering centre as the Philadelphia 76ers look set to pounce on him.

Granted, Jordan's inaccurate pass against the Pelicans wasn't the sole reason for his departure - although you can't imagine it helped his case.

According to multiple reports, Lakers officials were looking to clear space on the roster in order to sign veteran free agent guard D.J. Augustin.

33-year-old Jordan has failed to fire since arriving in California from the Brooklyn Nets, averaging just four points and five rebounds per game across 19 starts this season.

Wild Hail Mary's aside, his performance against the Pelicans wasn't exactly setting the world alight as he recorded two points, three rebounds and a single block.

But it seems Jordan, a man once part of that iconic Los Angeles Clippers side, won't be out of action for too long with ESPN reporting the 76ers are keen on acquiring his services.
