Geelong coach Chris Scott has made a tough call on star duo Tom Hawkins and Cam Guthrie for Saturday’s Qualifying Final against the Brisbane Lions.
Scott has elected not to play the pair, declaring that they’re both unfit to compete in the do-or-die clash.
“We don’t think Hawkins and Guthrie are fit and available this week,” Scott said on Channel 7’s Talking Footy.

“They have done a remarkable job really, from where they came from to get themselves into the position where we had to think about it a lot.
"But we made the call to this point they are not going to be quite ready, but that doesn’t preclude them from being available next week.”
If Geelong don’t make it to the Grand Final, Tom Hawkins will have laced up the boots for the final time in the AFL having announced that he’ll retire at season’s end.
It’s expected that Tom Stewart will come straight back into the line-up.

If the Geelong Cats are unsuccessful in making it to the Grand Final, it will mark the first time in eighteen years that the big game will not feature a team from Victoria.
Geelong will name their replacements on Thursday night.
