Mason Mount pleased with personal form amid slow start to Chelsea season

Mason Mount pleased with personal form amid slow start to Chelsea season

Mount was involved in both goals against AC Milan.

Mason Mount has revealed he is 'enjoying' his recent form for Chelsea amid his involvements against AC Milan.

The 23-year-old entered the current campaign off the back of 29 goals and assists last season, but struggled in the opening weeks of this term.

However, it appears as though Mount has now found his feet, with the Cobham academy product beginning to pick up goal contributions at Chelsea.

He assisted twice in the Premier League win against Wolves on Saturday afternoon, teeing up Kai Havertz and Christian Pulisic for their respective goals.

Mount soon returned to the starting lineup when Graham Potter's side made the trip to the San Siro the face AC Milan in the Champions League.

The Blues won 2-0, with Mount winning the penalty for the first goal and assisting Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for the second.

Since Potter arrived as the club's new head coach, Mount has been named in every starting lineup, with his efforts for the side now being rewarded.

He spoke to BT Sport after the win against Milan, and commented on how pleased he is with his recent form for the club.

"I feel good, I'm enjoying it and we're playing well and scoring goals.

"That's the most important thing. Hopefully next I get a goal because it's been coming, I just haven't finished it off yet, but I'll take the assists."

Mount also revealed what it has been like to work under Potter, who is unbeaten in all five games he has coached at the club so far.

"It's been brilliant," said the midfielder.

"You can see the way we play. We've been attacking, a big threat going forward. Solid at the back and built from the back.

"We're going in the right direction, hopefully that continues."

Chelsea's win away at Milan saw them take a huge step towards the last 16 of the Champions League, with the west London side now top of their group.

Former blue Fikayo Tomori was sent off for his foul on Mount midway through the first half, with Jorginho stepping up to convert the resulting penalty.

Aubameyang then doubled Chelsea's lead with a fine finish from inside the area, beating Milan goalkeeper Ciprian Tatarusanu at his near post just after the half hour mark.

Victory away from home means the Blues have won their last four games across all competitions as they continue their hectic schedule ahead of the break for the World Cup.
