Chelsea are planning to open talks with Mason Mount over a new contract 'as soon as possible', according to reports.
The 23-year-old has been one of the standout players for Thomas Tuchel, winning back-to-back Chelsea Player of the Season awards.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are looking to open talks with Mount, with an extension to his contract being 'key' for the club.

This comes after the Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital consortium completed their takeover of the club, succeeding Roman Abramovich after his 19 years in charge at Stamford Bridge.
It has been previously reported that Reece James and Mount will both be offered extensions at the club, with this seen as a priority for the incoming owners.
Mount earns around £88,000-a-week, according to Spotrac, but is set for a pay increase once he is handed an extension by the new owners at Chelsea.

Romano reports that the Blues midfielder has been 'waiting' for a new contract from his club for months, with the Chelsea board now planning to open talks with their star as soon as possible.
The situation is not seen as urgent, with Mount's current deal expiring in 2024. The likes of Jorginho and N'Golo Kante see their contracts expire a year earlier, with Thomas Tuchel looking to make a decision on their futures this summer.
"Nobody wants that with big players and important players nowadays," Tuchel previously said about the pair's contract expiring in 2023. "It's a wish as a coach that we solve this in the summer in any way, that we solve it and it's clear where the journey is and what the decision is. Yes, this is the wish.
"(If not) we have the same talks (about future) that we have had about Toni (Antonio Rudiger) and Andreas (Christensen). You just swap the names. We would talk about it through winter and then comes January, and then agents are talking to this club and the brother another."

Manchester United have been linked with a surprise move for Mount in recent weeks, with incoming manager Erik ten Hag aware of his current contract situation and impressed by the midfielder.
The interest from the new Manchester United boss reportedly dates back to Mount's debut season in professional football, impressing ten Hag during his time on loan at Vitesse Arnhem.
Liverpool were also linked with a shock move for Mount earlier in the season, whilst it was revealed that he was receiving interest from La Liga side Barcelona also.

Chelsea will be hopeful of tying their Player of the Season to a new deal at the club sooner rather than later as they prepare for life under the Boehly-Clearlake ownership.
