John Cena had a very logical explanation for wearing jean shorts throughout his entire WWE career.
Cena debuted in WWE 2001 wearing tight trunks against Kurt Angle but then shifted to the 'Dr of Thuganomics' gimmick whereby he would insult his opponents in raps.
But even after becoming the face of the WWE, Cena continued to wear 'jorts' and trainers in the middle of the ring and it became his schtick.

And Cena, who has admitted to getting an accidental boner during a match, says that he wore the shorts to stop people from "looking at my d***."
“If you look at my other options, it's just underwear!" he said on an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden.
"So I wanted to do some sort of street clothes, because my persona was a tough, wannabe-rapper kid from the mean street of West Newbury — tough to do that in your underwear.

"I’m pretty much in street clothes, and I chose denim because you don't blow the crotch out of denim. I tried cargo pants and in front of the world a few times: Everybody is just looking at my d***. So denim is a safe play.”
The 16-time world champion risked it all hanging out on Sunday when he appeared naked on stage to present the best Costume Design award as part of a skit with Jimmy Kimmel at the Oscars.
It was in relation to a streaker interrupted the presenting of the same award 50 years ago and this time it was Cena on stage in the nude - with an envelope covering his modesty.

He ended up leaving the stage in a toga, but backstage images later showed that he had a skin-coloured protective garment to cover both his front and behind.
The Hollywood star has been offered a huge fee from an Adult website after his antics at the Dolby Theatre.
