Finn Balor and Edge went one-on-one in one of the most brutal Hell in a Cell matches in recent memory at WrestleMania 39.
The event was filled with extravagant moments such as Snoop Dogg getting a Mania win, and the emotion-fuelled main event between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes.
But there was one match that certainly wasn’t extravagant - the brutal bout between Edge and Balor.

It was the conclusion of a rivalry that spanned several months and could only be settled inside one of the most savage matches in wrestling - Hell in a Cell.
The match was filled with weapons such as chairs, kendo sticks, and tables, but one weapon spot left its mark more so than the others.
At one point during the match, the WWE Hall of Famer brought out a weapon that has defined his career, the ladder.

And he used it to devastating effect.
He launched the ladder Balor’s way and slammed straight into his head, busting him wide open.
The match had to be temporarily stopped as medical personnel came in to check on the Demon as blood could be seen pouring from his head.
Both superstars wanted to keep going at it, but the doctors wouldn’t let it continue until Balor was treated with a numbing agent and given staples to seal the cut.

In a true show of guts, the Judgement Day member continued the match eventually suffering a defeat to Edge.
The brutality didn’t even end there with the match finishing with Edge’s signature Con-Chair-To, a chair shot to Balor’s head with another chair underneath.
Balor later took to Twitter to reveal the true extent of the injury, and it is absolutely brutal.

He tweeted a picture with the caption: “Just a flesh wound.”

And my god it looks like half his head is split open.
It’s one of the most horrific cuts in WWE history.
Fellow wrestler Big Damo wrote to Balor: “Bloody hell hope you’re alright mate.”
Former ECW wrestler Riggs joked: “Just a paper cut… rest up heal up brother.”

WWE great Scotty 2 Hotty said: “You are a pro dude. Much respect as always.”
Balor certainly earned a lot of respect after that showing.
