A new report on Manchester United’s heavy interest in Ajax stars Antony and Jurrien Timber has revealed that there may well be complications in United signing either player.
As has been heavily reported so far this Summer, new Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has a strong interest in two of his former players. Ajax’s Antony and Jurrien Timber have both been high on Ten Hag’s shopping list, yet it appears now he will face complications with signing either of the dutch side’s stars.
In the case of Timber, it has been reported by Mike Verweij that more and more Timber is leaning towards staying at the Dutch giants, with it noted that the chances of him staying are now “pretty big.”

It had been previously reported by The Mirror that Timber could look to delay his transfer until January, due to fears that limited game time at United could damage his chances of appearing at this year’s World Cup.
Former Manchester United defender and current Ajax vice-captain Daley Blind had previously said on Timber’s potential move to United that he "cannot influence that. I can only say that Ajax must do its best to keep him." It looks now that Blind could well be getting his wish.
In the case of Antony, it was also reported by Verweij that United are expected to register their interest in the Brazilian winger to Ajax in the near future.

However, due to the expected price tag of a Antony to Manchester United move being quite high, it may well not be possible for United to complete the move.
In Antony’s two years at Ajax the twenty-two-year old winger has produced twenty-nine goal contributions in the league, playing a vital role in Ajax’s consecutive Eredivisie titles.
Earlier this week it was reported by Times Sport that United are very much interested in signing the winger this season. However, United are reportedly looking at other targets as well, and have not limited their search for a forward to just one position in the frontline.

The interest in Antony has remained a theme of the summer with regards to Anthony, however with it being frequently reported that a midfield signing is the priority at Old Trafford, an attacking signing seemingly remains second on the list of must-dos at United.
With the club starting pre-season in just twelve days time ahead of their first match against Liverpool on 12 July in Bankok, the time is now for United to begin sealing deals for potential transfer targets.
Ten Hag had stated in his first interview with the club that he planned to strengthen the squad by the start of pre-season, remarking: “We will start pre-season on 27 June and I will get a few of the squad, [a few] of the individual players. In certain positions we want to renew the squad.”
