Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has come forward and stated that Cristiano Ronaldo is too critical to the club and he doesn’t see the Portuguese maestro leaving the club this summer.
The former United captain is certain that Ronaldo will be instrumental in the 2022-23 season in whatever role he plays at the club.
While taking a lie detector test on his YouTube channel FIVE, Ferdinand was asked whether he thinks Ronaldo will stay at Manchester United, and if he stays, does he have a good season?

Ferdinand immediately replied, “Yes.”
The lie detector test immediately gave a green signal, meaning Ferdinand was speaking the truth.
Ferdinand then said, “He stays! Manchester United can’t afford to let him go, that’s the problem.

“Say, we believe the reports that Cristiano wants to leave. By the way, you have to respect that he had some personal issues, that’s why he didn’t go on the tour."
He continued on, “But, if the reports are to be believed that he wants to leave, where do Man Utd find 20 goals now in the transfer market?”
The host of the show pointed towards Martial, to which Ferdinand nodded his head as if he’s saying, “No.”

Ferdinand then added, “If they’re going to go in the window, now, who are they going to buy, who’s going to get them 20 goals?
“The only reason why Manchester United cannot afford to let Cristiano Ronaldo leave is that there will be a void of 20+ goals in the team. You can’t just let that walk out the door, without putting in reinforcements in place.”
Ferdinand added, “Martial coming back, yeah, but he’s still got a lot to prove. I hope he comes out and flies. We’re in the pre-season right now and he’s looking good, the front-line is looking good and lively.”
“But, let’s get back in the season, when the pressure is on, and I want to see the same. Then I’ll start saying, ‘Yes, get another contract.”, he concluded.

It remains to be seen what happens with Cristiano Ronaldo’s future, but as of now, Rio believes it looks like he will be staying for the final year of his contract.
The Red Devils will begin their Premier League season against Brighton and Hove Albion at Old Trafford on the coming Sunday.
They then take on Brentford which would see Christian Eriksen take on the club he last played at.
