The feeling of a new signing at your club is matched by very few other feelings in football.
Even signing a player that you know isn’t bought to be a starter causes great excitement, and Manchester United fans experienced this recently with Tyrell Malacia.
As reported by the highly esteemed Fabrizio Romano for Caught offside, United expect to see a second signing next week.

Christian Eriksen is one of the best playmakers the Premier League has seen in the last decade and will bring plenty of quality and experience to Manchester United’s squad.
Shortly over 13 months ago, Eriksen went into cardiac arrest during a game for his country at the European Championships.
Whether or not he would ever even play football again was unclear, but fast forward 13 months and after returning to football in February on a 6 month contract for Brentford, Eriksen has shown he still has the quality that made him arguably a world class player for Tottenham Hotspur.
The Italian, Romano, reports that United have had a verbal agreement with the player for a week now and have sent the contracts to his lawyers.
They expect that in the next week, Eriksen will complete his medical assessment for the club and then be able to sign the contract.

Once he has done this, it is expected that the 30 year old will fly out to the far East to meet up with his new teammates.
Whilst impatience has been a common feeling across the United fanbase with regards to signings this summer, the Eriksen signing should help to speed things up on this front.
The fact that he will get the majority of the pre-season tour with the squad will allow him to gel with his teammates and understand Ten Hag’s tactical demands.
More importantly it will give the club more time to understand his specific health requirements, and gauge just how much football it is safe for him to play as they will not want to take risks with his health.

Eriksen will reportedly be earning 150 thousand pounds net a week at United, not a bad salary for a player of his quality that is likely to play plenty of minutes and have a significant contribution to United’s season.
In Europa League play is where Eriksen could really shine. The tournament is often not given its due credit for just how difficult and demanding it is.
In the earlier stages it requires you to travel further around Europe, and with games being played on a Thursday it is difficult for players to get back and properly recover in time for weekend games.

There is also an extra round than there is in the Champions League, quality squad depth is an absolute must if United want to compete for this trophy whilst also performing well in the league in 2022/23 and Eriksen brings that.
If Eriksen was to join next week, it is likely that he will fly to Melbourne to join up with the squad for the Australian leg of their pre-season tour.
