Manchester United’s long-winded search for at least one central midfielder may finally be coming to an end in the form of Juventus’ Adrien Rabiot.
United have spent a significant portion of this summer hunting the signature of Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong, with the player seen as a perfect fit for Erik ten Hag.
It was reported previously that Erik ten Hag views De Jong as the ideal player to help reinforce the type of football he wants at the Red Devils.
Despite this, Manchester United’s chase of the Dutchman has so far ended moot, with the player still training with Barcelona, despite abuse from fans.
This then caused United to turn their heads to other targets in order to complete as many signings as possible to fill holes in the squad.

It emerged days ago that Adrien Rabiot had become a central target for United, with the two clubs reportedly agreeing on a £15 million fee.
It has now been revealed by Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio that the Frenchman is set to meet with football director John Murtough on Friday in Turin.
Personal terms are yet to be agreed between Rabiot and United, and Fabrizio Romano has explained that negotiations will be about the player's potential salary at Old Trafford. Romano also mentions that the meeting will be with Rabiot's mother Veronique and not the player.

Rabiot is currently represented by his mother, who is known to have a resilient and fierce reputation.
She once claimed that her son was “a prisoner” at PSG during the final few months of his time at PSG, when he was linked to a whole host of European’s elite clubs.
Now 27 years old, Adrien Rabiot is entering his prime years as a player.
He has won 22 trophies at both club and international level, however was left out of France’s 2018 World Cup winning squad.

He has won six league titles with PSG and Juventus, as well as 15 cup competitions and one international trophy – The Nations League.
Although the Brentford game may come too soon for Rabiot to feature in, due to the current speed of the deal it may not be a surprise to see the midfielder at the club by the time United’s fixture against Liverpool comes into immediate view.
Manchester United are due to face Brentford on Saturday evening at 17:30 BST.

After a dismal loss to Brighton & Hove Albion on the opening Premier League weekend, Erik ten Hag will want to get his squad to winning ways as the season continues to get under way.
