Manchester United owner Joel Glazer is ‘involved’ in discussions about keeping Cristiano Ronaldo at the club for the upcoming season.
The Portuguese maestro has reportedly reiterated his desire to leave Old Trafford for a team playing in the UEFA Champions League.
However, such a move is not being sanctioned by United’s hierarchy, who believe they are not in a position to get viable replacements in time.

United brought Ronaldo back to Old Trafford just 12 months ago and the Portuguese delivered 24 goals across all competitions, which is quite impressive considering how limited United were in terms of creativity last season.
Despite his goals, United failed to come into the top four and will feature in the Europa League this season.
Ronaldo now wants to leave the club as he wants to play in the UEFA Champions League in the latter stages of his career.
The Athletic say Glazer has been involved in discussions himself about wanting to keep hold of the forward despite this.

United are looking at the unlimited benefits from holding on to Ronaldo Erik ten Hag has planned for his season to include Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ten Hag himself has repeatedly and openly stated that he wants Ronaldo to stay, stating he can help the Portuguese forward get back to his goalscoring best.
However, Ronaldo is said to be adamant to leave as he wants to win the UEFA Champions League one last time.
The five time Ballon d’Or winner reportedly received a bid from a Saudi Arabian club recently that would have seen him earn a nine-figure salary, which was rejected by both the club and the player himself

Meanwhile, Ten Hag is said to have taken issue with Ronaldo and some of his teammates for their behaviour after the game against Rayo Vallecano, when he left Old Trafford after they were substituted and those in the stands leaving before the full time whistle.
United great Louis Saha has recently given his thoughts on the Ronaldo saga, saying, “In some way, from Cristiano Ronaldo’s point of view it’s a bit unrealistic to ask a club of this size to adapt to him and his dream.
“I’m not Cristiano, but as someone who seems to be a supporter of Manchester United, I have felt like he hasn’t shown completely enough of that, he is thinking about himself.”

Saha then added, “I am not going to judge him because he is an immense player and I’m not in his position, but I would have loved him to stay because he’s a terrific player.
“No one can judge his actions at this moment because it’s his own career.”
Many United fans will hope Cristiano Ronaldo is involved in the squad when Manchester United face Brighton in their Premier League opener on Sunday, while others feel he doesn’t deserve his place in the squad back after this summer’s antics.
