Harry Maguire Shares Brilliant Moment With Group Of Italian Kids After Training On His Honeymoon

Harry Maguire is training on his honeymoon ahead of his return to Manchester United in the next week, with Erik ten Hag taking his first sessions over the last few days.

The defender competed with England during the Nations League, which means his return to Carrington will be in line with other internationals.

After marrying his childhood sweetheart, Fern Hawkins, on 25 June, Maguire has since started his preparation for the incoming season with United while on his honeymoon in Italy.

Following a session of individual training on the turf, Maguire took the time to take photos with a group of young football fans who were eagerly waiting as he finished the session.

Not only did the United captain take pictures with the group, but he also waited around and had a kick-around afterwards with them.

It would've been a special moment for the football crazed children.

It might've been better if one of them was able to score his shot captured on video, with Maguire instead crediting the lad in goal for his save.

The heart-warming actions from Maguire while he's clearing his head on holiday follow what was a poor season for the United captain.

His performances had many questioning his performances as the club recorded their worst defensive record in Premier League history.

He has received abuse from all directions, even being booed when playing for England at Wembley Stadium towards the end of last term.

Some have come to the defence of Maguire, saying that criticism of him has been harsh, with United's overall team playing poorly over the last year.

However, with United targeting a centre-back in the window, Maguire will need to raise his game in order to remain as United's go-to defender.

Lisandro Martinez is one player that Ten Hag is keen on signing, with developments on that transfer expected in the next day.

Meanwhile, although Maguire's form has been worrying, his new Dutch manager appears to be eager to work with him and help him reproduce performances of 2020/21, where he was one of the club's best players.

Barcelona were interested in the services of the Englishman, but United and Ten Hag firmly said no, with the manager wanting to work with Maguire next season.
