Manchester United have been tipped to include Harry Maguire as a makeweight in order to secure one of their top summer targets.
Days after it emerged Erik ten Hag would be staying, reports claimed that United had agreed personal terms with Jarrad Branthwaite's representatives.
It was said that United would be prepared to pay the young centre-back weekly wage between £150,000 and £160,000 per week.
However, the stumbling block for United is agreeing a fee with Everton for their prized asset.

United are believed to have submitted an opening offer of £35 million, which is around half of what Everton value the 21-year-old.
The "disrespectful bid" was swiftly rejected by the Toffees. And former Everton defender Don Hutchinson called for United to up their offer.
Speaking to ESPN, he said: "£35 million is a ridiculous offer, they are low-balling Everton massively. If they are going to sell Branthwaite, they were rumoured to be wanting about £80 million, but that will probably come down to £60 million or £70 million, but they want a lot of money for him.”
However, he then brought up the possibility of Maguire being included in a swap deal as something that could work for all parties.

Asked who would be Branthwaite's partner at the back, Hutchinson replied: “For United, him (Branthwaite) and Lisandro Martinez. I think they’ll try and move Harry Maguire on – [he’s] on big wages, that’ll be difficult, they might even try and use him in the Branthwaite deal if they tried to bring him in.”
The first bid from United was also said to have included £8 million in add-ons but according to David McDonnell from The Mirror, the Red Devils believe Everton must be more "realistic" when it comes to their demands.
They believe if Everton do lower their asking price, a deal can be done.
