Manchester United are convinced that Barcelona's Frenkie de Jong wants to move to Old Trafford this summer, despite Spanish reports claiming he is against the transfer.
This comes from the reliable Rob Dawson of ESPN, he says that sources have confirmed the above information.
The merry-go-round surrounding the midfielder's future has been a tiring saga for United fans this summer.

Conflicting reports have been spread on the subject, with recent reports, in particular from Spain, saying that he is unwilling to leave the Catalan club.
Fabrizio Romano reported on Wednesday morning that De Jong's agents have communicated to Barcelona that the player has no intention to leave the club.
He also added, though, that he will not lower his wages, something that would be a problem for the La Liga club.
Barca's club president, Joan Laporta, recently spoke publicly about wanting to keep the Dutchman, but that salary problems would need to be adjusted

"I'm going to do everything I can in my power so that Frenkie stays here." He stated, before saying, "But there’s also a salary issue and that would have to be adjusted."
The midfielder does not only have high wages that Barcelona need to lower if he is to stay at the club, but is also owed over £17 million in deferred payment, after agreeing to help the club through the pandemic.
James Ducker of The Telegraph reported on Wednesday that it is still unclear how these unpaid wages would be repaid to the player if he moves to Old Trafford.

It is added that it is understood that De Jong wants what he is owed, and a potential transfer would mean that full repayment is required now.
The aforementioned before from Dawson suggests that the deal is still on the table.
But with the information known, it seems that there needs to be a solution to paying De Jong his rightful wages before anything is fully agreed.

This comes after United executives were in Barcelona to speak with director of football Mateu Alemany, vice-president Rafa Yuste and footballing advisor Jordi Cruyff.
John Murtough and Richard Arnold have since flew to Amsterdam to negotiate with Ajax for the services of Lisandro Martinez after their latest bid was rejected.
But, it now has been reported that the Eredivisie club are open to selling the defender.
