New South Wales may have fallen to Queensland in Game 1 of the State of Origin series but Premier Dominic Perrottet has definitely scored a win.
Like most of us, the Premier certainly had footy fever as we headed into the blockbuster clash in Sydney, however, he took this moment to have a quip at the person who held his job before him.
Former Premier Gladys Berejiklian was forced to step down as head of NSW last year after the Independent Commission Against Corruption found she wasn’t quite against corruption, encouraging such behaviour during her relationship with Daryl Maguire.

If it wasn’t bad enough that Perrottet stepped in to take her job, he’s now hilariously trolled her in the preparation for Origin.
Last year, Berejiklian caused a stir on social media when she uploaded a photo of herself ‘Getting ready for Game 1’, equipped with a Blues beanie and scarf combo while holding a can of Coke Zero.
The internet had a field day with the photo that showed Gladys staring at a tiny TV, photoshopping her into a tonne of different situations in some hilarious memes.

The original photo just seemed extremely unnatural and an attempt to seem like she actually watched the Origin.
I mean, the Coke can wasn’t even opened.
One Twitter user summed up the sentiment by saying: “Gee, this photo totally doesn't reek of ‘Hey, let's just put a beanie and scarf on her... oh, and let's slip an unopened can of Coke into her hand as well, like the peasants drink.’”
The moment went down in internet infamy, and Dom took the opportunity to remind Gladys of her cringe post and recreate the photo himself.
Coke Zero in hand, blues beanie and scarf on, and facing away from the camera - really great content.

One person tweeted: “Credit where it’s due: this is funny for a tory.”
While another said: “I have to give Dom points for this shade.”
If Dom did indeed catch the game, he was in for a thrilling ride that unfortunately for him ended in defeat for New South Wales.

In Billy Slater's first night as head coach, his Queensland Maroons held off a late comeback from New South Wales, to take the Game One in the 2022 Origin Series 16-10 in front of 80,000 Blues fans.
A fantastic opening game of the series that saw amazing efforts from the likes of Cam Munster, Valentine Holmes, and Reuben Cotter.
Perrottet will be hoping his Blue’s can bring it back in game two.
